Stargazing

Inspired by the recent Stargazing Live on BBC2 this week, I have taken my camera on a first foray into the garden, on the first clear night to take pictures of the stars. The following were all taken at f5.6 for 30", ISO 800.

Orion's belt...


Pleiades...


Jupiter. To the bottom left of this picture is a streetlight but I'm not sure where the weird ring-effect things come from. Note how far the earth has rotated in 30 seconds, by how far the stars and planets have moved...
